notes-distractions

you need some distraction. what is a distraction and what is a goal is hard to define objectively. [you can develop tolereance to a distraction,] like a cupcake which wa once a helpful distraction but that now you eat because other food doesn't taste as good.

a really good distraction [can develop a life of its own] is so involved that it can develop into a sie-project and then into a hobby [and that is only a short way from becoming one of those goals that is more fundamental than work, 'that for which one works']

[the purpose of distractions is not just to assist one in accomplishing other goals, but to keep one's goals from becoming static]
