Getting the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 working on Debian GNU/Linux
With kernel 2.6.18-6-amd64.
I had tried just installing it using 'm-a a-i linux-uvc', but that gave me an error like:
/usr/src/modules/linux-uvc/uvcvideo.h:575: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before \u2018bool\u2019
presumably because a version of uvcvideo newer than that which is in debian unstable may be required.
As root:
cd /usr/src mkdir linux-uvc-svn
- assuming you don't already have a directory here called 'trunk'... svn checkout svn:svn.berlios.de/linux-uvc/linux-uvc/trunk mv trunk/* linux-uvc-svn/ mv trunk/.[^.]* linux-uvc-svn/ rmdir trunk/
- this next step is only necessary if you already tried to install linux-uvc rm modules/linux-uvc/ -rf m-a a-i linux-uvc mv modules/linux-uvc/ modules/linux-uvc-deb/ cp -r linux-uvc-svn/ modules/linux-uvc cp modules/linux-uvc-deb/debian/ -r modules/linux-uvc/ aptitude remove linux-uvc-source m-a build linux-uvc m-a install linux-uvc
aptitude install luvcview
Now you can do:
modprobe uvcvideo dmesg
to verify that the camera was detected, and:
luvcview &
to test/use the camera.
